We have finally completed migration with zero problems of servers. This is the smoothest migration ever. Thanks to all at 8 to Infinity Pte Ltd.
Holidays and Migration
Our migration overlaps the holiday season of Christmas and New Year and we had to spent the nice holidays migrating servers in the datacenters
. Thank goodness every thing is going to be over soon.
Final Migration
Our final migration of servers will be on Monday 9 Jan 2012, it will cap the entire migration process. Thank you all for your patience.
Busy as a Bee
The last few days show how busy the year is gonna be. But it is good for us I guess? The incoming orders are kinda too huge for us to take, but we are happy being busy.
Happy New Year
2011 was an extremely busy year for 8 to Infinity Pte Ltd. We had a lot of migrations consolidating all servers into our own IPs and consolidating scattered about racks into only East and West location. With such consolidations, it enables us far more flexible compared to previous and allow us to offer a lot more services to our Customers.
2012 Happy New Year
8 to Infinity Pte Ltd wishes all a Happy New Year. May 2012 brings you Happiness, Health and Wealth!
Reflections for 2011
This is one super busy year for us as we consolidated our racks into East and West datacenters and move all of the servers into our own IP range. With that gives us far more flexibility and expansion capabilities. It was also extremely tiring for our colleagues. But I guess the results are well worth the efforts. We are now able to provide Business Disaster Recovery for our customers and are able to manage our datacenter racks far more effectively than when the racks are scattered in four datacenters. Year 2012 will be tough, but we enter the New Year full of optimism and hope
Email Security
Given the vast number of spams versus actual emails – approximately 90% spams, we need to know where the spams are coming from. A lot of them are coming from you and I. This is due to the carelessness when dealing with our email accounts. I have send a lot of passwords, 1234, qwerty etc which are the first passwords hackers try. Do update your email passwords to more secure ones, with Upper and Lower case, with symbols etc. Do not unwittingly fall into the trap of hackers and be part of the spamming network.
Singapore Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated Web Hosting refers to hosting whereby an entire server is rented only to a particular client. This is in contrast to virtual hosting whereby many clients share a web server. Normally for dedicated web hosting, it is required for clients who need more power for their applications.

How to check Downtime
We have a lot of users who may be facing ISP problems or computer problems but look for us as they thought that it was server problems. There is an easy resource for them to check at http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
Month of Rest
This is really a month of rest for all our engineering guys after 3 months of migration and maintenance. That was tough work, we need time to recharge and be revitalized!
Minecraft Servers
It is a blessing in disguise to know servers well, but it can also bring about a lot of problems, my 10 year old nephew was asking for his own personal minecraft server!
Resting for the Month
There won’t be any major migration this month, we had done 3 months of massive migration and maintenance exercises which allows our datacenters to be at the peak of health and also our network to be at the best maintained status. All of us are extremely tired and will take this opportunity to have some rest before we go on yet another important but essential journey.
Power Maintenance Completion
There is the last stage of the power maintenance of the datacenter at the old datacenter. The Power Feed A is powered off for maintenace. Last week as B. Once this is done everything should remain as per normal.
Efficiency of Maintenance of Datacenter
Initially we had to take care of four datacenters, this caused a lot of redundancies in the equipment to be used. Each datacenter needs to have at least one or two sets of core equipment. Now we have consolidated into two datacenters we can have two sets of core equipment as well as backups for such equipments. Also maintenance is much lesser as we now need to maintain two datacenters instead of four datacenters.
Our engineers do not need to travel to so many datacenters. We can now concentrate on these two datacenters. This vastly cut down on our maintenance time and also us to expand our business much faster. Concentrating our resources also mean economy of scales which we can leverage to provider better quality services to our customers. All in all, it is a Win-Win situation. We have completed Stage 2 of the migration, there is still one critical stage to go before we can consider ourselves fully redundant and capable of the most difficult Disaster Recovery.
Marathon Server Rescue
We had a tremendous 18hr hours marathon job helping to save a customer’s 2000 accounts server, he has tons of trojans and viruses inside. That was really tough. He installed all sorts of programs, utilities, anti viruses etc inside and really mess up the server. So much so that it took us a long time to wade through his tons of programs and slowly troubleshoot. In the end we have to setup a new server and migrate to the new server. This took up a huge amount of time and troubleshooting and migrating. In the end it was a success and thanks to God!
