We pay typically more than 10 times for pure Internet bandwidth, those with 1:1 contention, carrier class quality for our web hosting.   This can work out to $300/mth per mbps and we are getting wholesale rate. </p>
<p>There was a time when datacentres offered unmetered shared bandwidth.   That was being abused so much that few datacentres are offering that nowadays as bandwidth does not come cheap.   Offering shared bandwidth just require one or two abusers and the entire datacentre will be under fire.</p>
<p>For those asking for unlimited bandwidth, do note the cost above, how does a web hosting company offer you unlimited for $100/year web hosting at such costs bona fide?</p>
