One of the major headaches of doing colocation is not about payment. It is about disappearing clients. We had quite a lot of servers in our warehouse because of that.

Why is that so? The customer colocated his servers with us and just disappear. We can’t contact him and he never contacted us. What to do with the servers? We can’t just take them and use as it is not ours. We can throw them away, what if the owner comes back? So it remains in our warehouse.

They are not lousy pieces of equipment that owners would want to throw, quite a few are top of the line servers worth tens of thousands. Just that they are now gathering dust. It is a great pity but guess nothing can be done. What is worse, our warehouse is really getting full.
