We notice a lot of customers, even web developers that got confused over Linux and Windows features. This is especially so with more and more programming scripts and functions that are cross platform. Basically Windows support ASP, ASP Dot Net, PHP whereas Linux does not support ASP or ASP Dot Net though there are some add ons that enable support of ASP and ASP Dot Net in the Linux platform. We feel that such scripts still run best on Windows. Linux is more native to Perl, PHP and MySQL though Windows are running them better and better especially with IIS 7. However we still feel that PHP runs best of Linux. There are a lot of programs and scripts that call upon the functions of the IIS and Apache, such scripts are the confusion point. Scripts using these have to be on a specific platform they are programmed to be with, either IIS or Apache. A lot of programmers mistaken these and wasted a lot of time troubleshooting.
