Received quite a few feedback with regards to Dot SG domain names. Basically for such an extension as in Dot.SG, Dot.Com.SG and those of the SG family, the domain will expire on the dot. After the expiry date, the domain will stop working and hence the web and email will not be accessible.
It is thus imperative for users of SG domain names to keep track of their SG domains renewal and to renew them before they expired. For our end, our accounts normally send invoices via post as well as via email to users. However it seemed that every day a few users would have forgotten to send in the payment or had changes in addresses or emails and hence had their domains expired and called up to complain.
Two things needed to be note.
- Changes in addresses of customers will not be done or automatically updated by us unless customers take the troubles to inform us.
- Changes in administrative email address will also not be known to us, we need to be updated in this.
- Domain name is the property of the domain owner, you yourself do need to keep track of your domain expiry too.
Only by close cooperation between customers and hosting companies can we be assured of a trouble free renewal process. We urge customers to at least take the troubles to update us on any address or admin email contact changes so that our invoices will arrive at the correct destination. To be fair, it is still a very very small percentage, but we really hope to keep it to zero as it inconvenienced the clients when their domain names expired.
