Email Server Issue on Unagi Email Cluster
Saturday, November 28th, 2009Our tech team received an alarm on Sat telling us that Unagi stopped responding to pings indicating that there may be a failure. Our team checked on the server in the data center. It was found that the power supply unit was faulty. An immediate change was ordered and the services are running normally after the change. We are still monitoring the server. As this was a sudden power off, the Raid systems in Unagi are still rebuilding. This will have no affect on normal users. Services have resumed normally.

Unagi clusters are set for multiple redundancies, it was regretted that even with such redundancies there are still single points of failures which we are striving hard to minimize whenever technology permits. Our apologies and thanks to our loyal clients who have been extremely patient and understanding throughout. Our tech team response was immediate and the remedy was according to our Standard Operating Procedures. With every incident we are improving and updating on our SOP to provide the best of services to our customers. It was a long weekend and quite a tough call given that hardware replacements was needed but we kept enough spares to resolve the issues. We are lucky in the sense that we do have enough spare machines and parts. But it is a hard challenge to keep up with the pace of technology given that computer parts change nearly every quarter. New parts may not be compatible and it may not be easy to find the needed old parts on the market.
