Dedicated Hosting differs from Colocation in the sense that, for dedicated hosting, it is the web hosting provider that provides the equipment and not the clients themselves. Often Dedicated Hosting comes with OS installed either using the web hosting provider’s Microsoft SPLA licenses or Linux Distro.

For dedicated hosting, the web hosting provider normally looks after the hardware only. If you need more, you may have to specify before you sign up. There is another modified form of dedicated hosting known as Lease to Own dedicated hosting. For such dedicated hosting, after a contracted period, the hardware belongs to you and if you want to continue hosting, you only pay the colocation fees.
